MCB Real Estate is proud to announce that Principal Drew Gorman has been named a 2025 Influencer in Retail Real Estate by GlobeSt. The annual list highlights leaders who are transforming the retail sector through innovation, performance, and vision.
Since joining MCB in 2021, Gorman has co-led the firm’s development, acquisitions, and asset management teams. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, he has played a pivotal role in the acquisition and development of more than 25 projects totaling 4.7 million square feet and $4.2 billion in transactions. His career encompasses over 23 million square feet of retail-focused real estate activity across the country.
Within MCB, Gorman is recognized as a strategic driver of the company’s nationwide retail acquisition strategy. His efforts have resulted in several high-impact acquisitions and developments, including:
- The $64.7 million acquisition of Falcon Ridge Town Center in Fontana, California, secured in a competitive bidding environment.
- Multiple Florida acquisitions, including Big Pine Key in Key West, Springs Plaza in Orlando, and Post Commons in Melbourne.
- The launch of Viva White Oak in Eastern Montgomery County, Maryland, a fully entitled development featuring 530,000 square feet of retail and 3 million square feet of commercial and residential space.
- The 2022 purchase of Westridge Square in Frederick, Maryland, which included a 37,000-square-foot lease with Crunch Fitness and a $5 million redevelopment effort.
- Development of Fairway Village in Waldorf, Maryland—a $115 million mixed-use, grocery-anchored center now 95% pre-leased.
The Drexeline Medical Building groundbreaking in Pennsylvania, bolstering the performance of the adjacent grocery-anchored retail property.
Gorman is recognized internally as a powerful force in retail real estate. Known for identifying even the narrowest market opportunities, he leverages deep industry knowledge and longstanding relationships to move decisively and deliver impactful outcomes.
Before joining MCB, Gorman served as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Development for ECHO Realty, where he expanded the firm’s footprint in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern U.S. He was instrumental in launching the Washington, D.C. office and focused on the acquisition, redevelopment, and development of supermarket-anchored and power centers.
Earlier in his career, Gorman was Managing Director at Faison, overseeing all leasing and sales activities in the Northeast Region. Under his leadership, Faison completed over 4.5 million square feet of retail development. He was involved in every phase of the project lifecycle, including acquisition, development, financing, and disposition.
He began his career at Palisades Realty & Development, which later merged into Faison, and also held a senior leadership role at Federal Realty Investment Trust. There, he directed operations across major U.S. markets and successfully leased over 1.2 million square feet of space with an aggregate value of more than $250 million.
Beyond his executive role, Gorman is committed to mentoring the next generation of commercial real estate professionals. He dedicates time to guiding emerging talent, fostering a culture of support, and helping young professionals build the skills needed to thrive in a competitive industry. His leadership is focused not only on results, but on creating a ripple effect of positive change throughout the sector.
Gorman holds an M.B.A. from Loyola College in Baltimore and a B.S. from Towson University. He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Urban Land Institute (ULI).
